Your Guide to a Mommy Makeover

Mommy makeovers are becoming more and more popular. However, it’s difficult to come up with accurate numbers for how many “mommy makeovers” that have occurred in recent years. It’s a marketing term and not a surgical one.

These mothers want to stay young and feel young and preserve their bodies. With the advent of social media and the rise of the digital age, we need to project the perfect image to everyone; even if they don’t know us. So what is a mommy makeover?

A mommy makeover is a various combination of surgeries that will help you get your pre-baby body back. It can include a mix of breast lifts, breast augmentation, tummy tuck, liposuction, and lipo-abdominoplasty. The average cost for these will run you about $12,325 with the low end costing about $9,200 and the high end costing about $16,500.

However, not everyone opts for surgery. Some mothers can actually return to their pre-pregnancy weight and breast size. Some physicians recommend that patients try to tighten up their abdominal area through diet and exercise which may help bypass a tummy tuck.

Before considering this surgery it should be noted that recovery times can vary for patients. On average, patients can expect to be driving around by week one, walking five miles on a flat surface by week two, and then run by week four. Having a night or two in an aftercare facility can also help recovery. In addition to this, you should seek to find a caretaker for your children as well if they are less than three years of age. It is always helpful to have someone else take care of the children while you are undergoing recovery.

As always, you should consult your physician and plastic surgeon before undergoing and procedures so that you are aware of the risks and benefits associated.

Proponents arguing a more natural approach cite self-esteem and underlying behavioral changes that must take place first before even considering plastic surgery. These individuals state that mothers should have a control over their life first and be willing to maintain their bodies, i.e. not looking for a quick fix solution.
