We all know that vegetables are healthy. They can help you lose weight and ever since a young age we are told that they are healthy. However there are some surprising facts that you may not know about vegetables:

Vegetables can fight bloat. Vegetables are rich in fibers which can flush out waste and gastric irritants. They also prevent constipation and keep the digestive tract moving. In addition to this they can help balance out the large amount of sodium that is consumed in a typical American diet. If you are experiencing a lot of gas feel free to add more fiber and vegetables to your diet opting for steamed rather than raw.

They can create a youthful glow. Did you want younger-looking skin? Vegetables contain a large amount of phytonutrients, vitamin C, and water. Most vegetables are about 85% – 95% water. Brightly colored orange and red vegetables will give you beta carotene which protects the skin from sun damage. Vegetables such as: tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers, butternut squash, and many others all contain beta carotene

They can also help reduce stress. Nutrients such as magnesium and vitamin C can become quickly depleted when you’re stressed out. At more vegetables to help reduce stress. The potassium and magnesium found inside vegetables can also relax blood vessels and reduce blood pressure.

Vegetables can also protect your bones. Some vegetables contain bone-building vitamin K, magnesium, potassium and prebiotic fiber. A recent study has shown that tomatoes can be connected to bone health. In the study it was found that when lycopene was removed from womens’ diets; it increased their risk for osteoporosis.

The important point here is to eat your vegetables! Whether you hate it or not, no one can deny it is bad for you to eat your vegetables.
