Fractional CO2 Skin Repair

It’s no secret that as we grow older, time takes its toll. Suddenly you start noticing fine lines, wrinkles and sagging, all of which can make you look tired, sad and older than you feel on the inside. While aging brings wisdom, there is no reason to look older than you feel. You want to face the world with a confident, refreshed and youthful look. In the past, the role of sun exposure in aging was underestimated. The old sunscreens only protected against the burning rays (UVB), letting the aging/cancer rays (UVA) cause premature wrinkles, poor texture and tone dyschromia (redness, brown and white spots). Using laser technology, Dr. Moliver can reverse the effects of sun damage and provide you with a fresher, more youthful appearance.

Performing Facial Lasers Since 1992

The Co2 laser has been the “gold standard” for facial resurfacing for nearly two decades. unlike other lasers, this technology works on everyone, typically with one treatment. Dr. Moliver has nearly two decades of experience facilitating facial rejuvenation for women and men with sun-damaged skin using Co2 lasers. He has been selected as a Center of Excellence by Lumenis to teach other physicians the most advanced techniques.

CO2 Fractional Lasers

Effective Laser Resurfacing Requires Skin Fitness

You wouldn’t expect your teeth to remain white after teeth whitening if you didn’t brush them twice daily with an effective toothpaste. Your face needs that same daily attention to remain refreshed and rejuvenated. Topical medical-grade products (SKIN FITNESS) and lifelong protection of the skin from the aging and cancer (UVA) sun rays are crucial to maintaining your refreshed look.
Dr. Moliver and his staff will create a personalized skin regimen for you before, during and after your treatment. The laser can be used to resurface your face, eyelids or other areas where skin texture and tone are a problem. A combination of topical anesthetics and sedation Anesthesia will be used to make you comfortable during your laser treatment. One treatment is typically all you will need. The effect will last as long as you maintain your daily skin fitness.

The new Lumenis Encore Fractional Laser system offers the amazing ActiveFX, DeepFX or TotalFX laser options for treating your specific skin care needs.

Frequently Asked Q & A

How long is the procedure?
Depending on the location and dimensions of the area to be treated, the procedure may require a few minutes to an hour. During your consultation, your desired results will be discussed and the length of your treatment will be determined by your physician.

When can I expect to see results and how long will they last?
With the DeepFX™ procedure you can expect to have improved texture and tone in the first few weeks. Measurable tightening improvements appear gradually within 2 to 6 months. Results are long-term and can last for years with proper skin care.

Why is UltraPulse CO2 laser the Gold Standard?
The Ultrapulse CO2 Laser delivers thousands of tiny laser pulses in a pattern over the skin.
Each pulse heats a column of tissue eliminating pigment discolorations at the surface and
creating a zone of heating deep in the tissue. Unique to the UltraPulse Encore, these zones of
heating shrink collagen and tighten the skin immediately. The Co2 laser offers the benefits of
heating deeper layers of skin tissue, thereby stimulating collagen remodeling, tightening the
skin further. Patients can select from a range of treatments depending on the needs of your skin
and lifestyle.  The UltraPulse CO2 laser has been on the market as the gold standard for skin
resurfacing for over a decade.  Now, the Encore deliveres UltraPulse CO2 technology in a
fractionated mode to deliver superior results with minimal down time.

What is ActiveFX Fractional laser resurfacing?
ActiveFX is a fractional laser procedure performed in a single treatment with minimal patient
downtime. During the procedure, a high-energy beam of laser light is used to smooth out lines,
wrinkles, and scars, remove brown spots and other irregularities, and tighten the skin. It also
stimulates formation of new underlying collagen to continue improvement over time. With
fractional laser treatment only a fraction of the skin’s surface is treated by the laser, leaving
small “bridges” of untouched skin. This technique makes the healing process much faster and
enables you to get back to normal activities sooner. ActiveFX can be performed in the office with
a topical anesthetic cream that is applied for 30-40 mins, most patients feel warmth similar to
sunburn. Photodamaged skin will begin to flake in 2 days and in 3-5 days return to normal.

How is DeepFX different?
DeepFX has greater treatment depths form 5-2000 microns. Heavier rhytids can affect the
deeper dermal tissues. Treatments with DeepFX alone (either one or two treatments) can
provide for better skin tightening and is safe and effective for wrinkle reduction. Deeper
treatment increases downtime up to 5-7 days with some swelling lasting 3-4 days post
procedure.  Immediate results are seen within 10 days, however final treatment effects are
seen in 3-6 months as the skin repairs internally and produces layers of new collagen.

Benefits of Active FX | Deep FX Laser Treatment
• Reduced wrinkles and fine lines
• Softens deep lines
• Improved skin tone and texture
• Stimulates new collagen formation
• Improves texture, tone and pore size
• Erase unwanted brown spots and even out skin tone
• Smooth skin texture and imperfections such as acne scars
• Rejuvenate your neck, chest and hands
• Minimal downtime

Typical Social Downtime
Redness like a bad sunburn for at least 3 days followed by spotty brown appearance for at least 3 days. The higher the thermal settings, the more long-term effect but also the longer the social downtime.

Unlike the IPL and Fraxel one treatment usually achieves the desired effect. If it is repeated, the duration between treatments should be six months as the effect continues for that duration as the elasticity (collagen) under the skin continues to improve.
