"It seemed like a good idea at the time." It's something we hear often when a patient comes in for tattoo removal here in Houston, Texas. To meet their needs, we trust PicoWay, an innovative laser treatment that uses 3 wavelengths instead of 1 for a completely customized experience. The name PicoWay comes from the incredibly quick bursts from the device — lasting a picosecond each — that effectively break down unwanted ink, regardless of the color.

PicoWay's advanced technology makes laser tattoo removal possible for more people than ever. As the first 3-wavelength laser on the market, PicoWay is effective on all color groups, even traditionally hard-to-treat colors such as green. The device can remove both amateur and professional tattoos of all colors and sizes. Best of all, the PicoWay laser is safe for people of all skin tones. Even if a tattoo has previously been unresponsive to laser removal, PicoWay may be able to help.
If you have an unwanted tattoo, you are a good candidate for PicoWay.
PicoWay is a revolutionary option for treating more tattoos faster and easier than ever before.
The PicoWay procedure is performed here in our office by a member of our medical staff. In most cases, no anesthesia is required, although we offer a topical numbing cream to certain patients. Your practitioner runs the PicoWay handpiece over your tattoo as bursts of laser energy target the pigment in the tattoo. Once the pigment is broken up, your body can then begin to metabolize it as it would any other particle or cell. That process begins immediately.
The length of your procedure depends on the size of your tattoo, but you can expect to be in our office for about an hour for something small or medium-sized.

There is no downtime, per se. You can plan to go back to work or other daily activities immediately after your appointment. Over the next few days, you'll notice your tattoo fading as the ink is metabolized. While blistering is possible, not everyone experiences this side effect.
During the healing process, you may experience some discomfort, which can be remedied with over-the-counter medication. You may also need to use a prescribed antibiotic cream to prevent infection while the skin heals.
The number of treatments you'll need for effective removal depends on the size, color, and complexity of your tattoo. Relatively simple tattoos require fewer treatments than large, colorful pieces. During your consultation, we'll offer you an estimation on how many treatments you'll need for full results.
Keep in mind that you may space your treatments out as much as you like. The treatment doesn't need to follow a specific timeline in order to be effective.
Yes. PicoWay is effective on tattoos, regardless of how long you have had them. In fact, older tattoos may see better results, because they're often less vibrant and color-saturated than newer ones.
Yes. PicoWay doesn't affect your skin's ability to retain new ink pigment. Once your treatments are complete and your skin is completely healed, you'll be able to get a new tattoo in the same area, if you wish.
