Symmastia is a Rare, but Fixable Complication of Breast Augmentation

In very rare instances, Symmastia can occur as a defect of breast augmentation surgery. When implants are inserted too close to the midline of the body, it causes a lifting of the skin away from the chest, creating an unattractive connected appearance sometimes referred to as “breadloafing.” Symmastia can also occur as a rare congenital defect in which soft tissue connects, or webs, both breasts together at the sternum (breast bone). Symmastia seems to be more prevalent among thin women, mostly due to the minimal tissue and/or fat covering the sternum. In our experience, Symmastia generally occurs due to aggressively cutting open the chest muscle during an … Continue reading

Stem Cell Facelifts – Effective or Not?

Stem cell facelifts are something that is heavily debated. We hear a lot about stem cells on the news, but what are stem cells? Stem cells are biological cells that are undifferentiated. Meaning that they are not specialized cells yet and can change into any type we want them to become such as blood cells, heart cells, or in our case: skin cells. In a conventional facelift, it requires surgical cutting, lifting, and sewing of sagging skin. However in the stem cell facelift procedure, this is not the case. The procedure is nonsurgical and patients receive injections of fat that … Continue reading

Chiropractic Care

Back pain is the number one reason why Americans visit the chiropractor.  Approximately 7.7 million or 35% of Americans seek relief caused by back pain annually. Chiropractors use hands-on spinal manipulation and other alternative treatments in order to control healing processes. The idea behind this is that the proper alignment of the body’s musculoskeletal system will enable the body to heal itself without surgery or medication. Some individuals prefer chiropractic care as an alternative due to its natural approach. The most common therapeutic procedure performed is known as spinal manipulation or otherwise known as chiropractic adjustment. These adjustments rarely cause … Continue reading

Facelift – Is it Right For You?

In our office, we don’t have a one-size-fits-all approach to changing someone’s face. Every person begins with a naturally beautiful and unique look, but over time our corners begin to sag or our skin may develop dark spots. However, we’ve met very few people that need to rebuild a completely new face. Most patients simply need a smoothing here, or a tuck there, to reveal the life below the surface. Our most frequent procedure these days is an MACS-lift (Minimal Access Cranial Suspension lift), which allows for the correction of sagging facial features through a short incision around the ears. In this … Continue reading
